Fun for freshmen at pLaY iT uP
On the Thursday night before classes started for the semester, the Herman B Wells Library welcomed freshmen to pLaY iT uP, a first-ever game night. The goal: to invite new students to the library and provide them opportunities to make friends and feel connected to the campus.
Low-tech games ranged from ping pong and corn hole to Texas Hold ‘Em. Students enjoyed mechanical puzzles from the Slocum Puzzle Collection housed at IU’s Lilly Library, and played games such as Wii, Guitar Hero, and Xbox.
The event was sponsored by the IU Libraries, the Office of First Year Experience, University Information Technology Services, Best Buy, and the CyberCafé.

Library volunteers were all smiles, despite working late into the night.
