  • Historical Maps on the Web - Historical maps of the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East. From the University of Michigan Map Library.
  • How Far Is It? - This service uses data from the US Census and a supplementary list of cities around the world to find the latitude and longitude of two places, and then calculates the distance between them. From a travel site for Indonesia and Bali.
  • Maporama - interactive maps and driving directions for many countries
  • Maps on Us - Create maps and plan driving routes for U.S. locations.
  • Merriam - Webster's Atlas - Online maps and profiles of countries and U.S. states. The profiles can include information on population, gross national product, form of government, total area, etc.
  • MSN Maps & Directions - Create, customize, and save easy-to-read digital maps pinpointing almost any location within the United States.
  • TopoZone - USGS scale map of the entire United States. Search by place name or latitude and longitude.
  • U.S. Gazetteer - From the U.S. Census Bureau. This gazetteer is used to identify places to view with the Tiger Map Server and obtain census data from the 1990 Census Lookup server. You can search for places, counties or MCDs by entering the name and state abbreviation (optional), or 5-digit zip code.
  • Yahoo! Maps - Enter a street address or airport code; a city, state or a zip code, and this site generates a map, and provides driving directions between two points.
