Includes a chronology of events for the year covered, obituaries, articles under specific headings (e.g. "Economic Affairs," Religion," "Sports and Games," "World Affairs," etc.), and expanded review articles on a variety of topics contributed by authorities in various fields. An annotated bibliography component lists recent books in English judged to have been significant contributions to their respective fields. The "Britannica World Data" section provides a country-by-country statistical profile of the nations of the world. The index covers both this section and the Britannica Book of the Year (cumulative for ten years).
