Notes
22 volumes.

Considered the best general English-language encyclopedia on the market today, the World Book is designed primarily for students in elementary school, junior high, and high school. The approximately 17,500 entries which constitute the source (many written by acknowledged leaders in their fields) are relatively short, written in a style directed at the grade level where they are most likely to be studied, and contain reliable and impartial information. Approximately 1,600 articles in the set conclude with bibliographies. While coverage is uniformly apportioned among the major areas of knowledge, it is particularly strong in scientific, technical, and medical subjects. Volume 22, a "Research Guide/Index," provides a detailed analytical index of more than 150,000 entries. Supplemented annually by the World Book Year Book which includes a detailed review of the previous year's events. The CD-ROM, Information Finder Encyclopedia, contains the text of the World Book Encyclopedia and is available in the Undergraduate Library (Blgtn UNDERGRAD Interactive Info Ctr AE5 .I545 1990).
