The physical format is extremely attractive with numerous illustrations, colored plates, and maps. It includes biographies of living persons. This encyclopedia replaces in the Reference Collection the much larger, but out of date, 26 volume Uusi Tietosanakirja (which is still available, however, in Research Collections at AE21 .I85 1961).
