Alternative title: Encyclopaedia hebraica. A comprehensive, general work in Hebrew with signed articles from well-known scholars (Jewish and non-Jewish) that include extensive multi-lingual bibliographies, black-and-white illustrations, and some colored plates. Publication began in 1949 and wasn't complete until 1980 with vol. 32, so that an interim supplement to vols. 1-16 was published in 1966 and a second supplement in 1982/83.
