Research Ethics

Prof. Noretta Koertge

To start your research:
To find books and information on which journals we own: IUCAT
To borrow books from other libraries (Interlibrary Loan): WorldCat
To find articles:

To find newspaper articles:
  • New York Times (ProQuest Historical Newspaper)
1851-1999 -- the full text of the NYT, article and page images and searchable text

Since the searching is far from perfect in this resource, also remember that we have the New York Times Index (on the wall across from the Reference Desk) and the entire paper on microfilm (now on the second floor of the Library in the Gov't Information, Microforms and Statistical Services Dept)

For other newspapers (Washington Post and many others) there are two resources which cover the last couple of decades only:

  • Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe
  • Factiva (formerly Dow Jones)
To find encyclopedias, dictionaries and bibliographies: You can use IUCAT or for a more focused and possibly useful view you can use this tool to search for books in the Reference Reading Room only:

  • Reference Collection Catalog
This tool has not been updated in two years, but once you find the four or five locations where most books are shelved covering Ethics you will find related possibly books, including recently published, on the nearby shelves.
