The
purpose-built National Archives was constructed during the 1980s in the
suburbof Sinkor. It was looted &
partially destroyed early in the Civil War of the 1990s. Professor Elwood
Dunn reports that National Archives’ employees & other Liberians
cognizant of the value of the materials collected & returned some of the
documents to a basementoffice in the
Old Executive Mansion opposite the current Memorial Pavilion in downtown
Monrovia.
