TIENIE HOLLOWAY MEDAL

The South African Academy of Science and Arts created the Tienie Holloway Medal in 1969. The medal was named after Tienie Hooloway who was noted for her verse for young children in the early part of the 19th century. This award is given in recognition of authors who have written the best books for children younger than 8 years of age (i.e., pre-school & kindergarten). It is given when a work merits recognition for originality in Afrikaans.
