H-Net maintains a number of e-mail listserves that may be useful and interesting to historians and other humanities scholars. The H-Net List of Lists page shows a visitor the variety of listservs available at H-Net. From this page, one may connect to the home pages for the individual listservs, where subscription information is provided, along with (depending on the particular listserv) archives of discussions that have taken place on the list, lists of resources for scholars and teachers, book reivews, and links to other sites of interest.
In addition, there are numerous listserves that are not associated with H-Net:

ANCIEN-L: History of the ancient Mediterraneamn

• ANCIEN-L was set up to provide a means whereby professionals and lay people could meet and discuss issues related to the history of Mediterranean civilizations ranging from Egypt to the fall of the Roman Empire. The discussion also includes the immediate Near East of Sumer, Akkad, Assyria, Hittites, Hyksos, etc.

MEDTEXT-L: Medieval Texts - Philology Codicology and Technology

• MEDTEXTL, the discussion group for medieval languages and literature, also has a large number of messages. In contrast to ANSAX-L and CHAUCER, it has more postings for continental languages, literature, and the arts, and perhaps for that reason has a rule that any postings or quotations in any language other than English include translations along with the originals. This can be a real help for, say, a Germanic scholar trying to follow a conversation quoting medieval Italian or for a Romanticist trying to decipher something from Old Norse.
