This guide is based on the book review sources that  are most often used and recommended in the Reference Department.

Book Review Index is a good place to start for reviews of English-language books published after 1965. Academic Search (EBSCO), an interdisciplinary database that includes both popular and scholarly publications, is also helpful for books published since 1990.

JSTOR, a full text electronic archive of more than 300 core scholarly journals, is very likely to have at least one review of any significant scholarly monograph (in many disciplines) that was published at least 3 years ago.
