European Centre for Minority Issues ECMI´s aim is to promote interdisciplinary research on various dimensions of minority-majority relations in a European perspective, and to contribute to the improvement of inter-ethnic relations in those parts of Western and Eastern Europe where ethnopolitical tension and conflict prevail. European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations, a European research centre with a strong interest in comparative research in the fields of international migration and ethnic relations within the European context. Centre for Research in International Migration and Ethnic Relations, an inter-disciplinary research unit established 1983 at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Stockholm University. Its research programme covers international migration, ethnicity, nationalism, xenophobia and racism, ethnic relations, immigration policies and refugee reception models. Contains lists of the Centre's publications, full text articles, and links.
Center for Migration Studies, founded in New York in 1964, is one of the premier institutes in the United States. It is committed to facilitating the study of sociodemographic, historical, economic, political, legislative and pastoral aspects of human migration and refugee movements. Includes searchable catalog and contains links to other research centers.
Soros Foundations Network (and Open Society Institute)
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' Centre for Documentation and Research (UNHCR). A full collection of searchable databases contains official documents of UNHCR and other UN agencies, country and legal information, and reference materials. Also contains Weblinks, searchable by keyword or by country or region.
International Organization for Migration (IOM), based in Geneva, Switzerland, is a broad-based organization, committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society.

Ethnos-Nation, maintained at the University of Cologne. A bilingual (German & English) scientific journal examining contemporary ethnic and national problems in Europe. Contains full text of articles published 1993-1995; summaries of articles and full-text book reviews and conference reports published 1996-1999.

center is at the forefront of work on race and ethnic relations in Europe and
continues to develop and participate in a range of European networks and
partnerships. The Center aims to increase knowledge, promote better
understanding, and influence the work of other agencies and bodies with an
interest in racism, migration and ethnic relations, through programmes of
research, teaching, training, conferences, seminars, publications and a range of
other dissemination activities.
The Refugee Studies Center at
Oxford Its objectives are to carry out multidisciplinary research and
teaching on the causes and consequences of forced migration; to disseminate the
results of that research to policy makers and practitioners, as well as within
the academic community; and to understand the experience of forced migration
from the point of view of the affected populations.

Excellent site for questions pertaining to unique aspects of UK immigration control as compared to EU immigration control. La Citta Multietnica (The Multiethnic City) Italian language site (with plans for English expansion) run by the Immigration service of the Emilia Romagna region, an area with significant in-migration. The site treats associations for immigrants and minorities, multi-cultural associations, voluntary services, NGOs, social workers concerned with immigrants (expecially cross-cultural workers and mediators), researchers and students. An excellent example of community and regional initiatives designed to facilitate immigrant integration. The Immigration service envisions the site becoming a place for cultural exchange where people from all over the world can meet and converse. German Federal Office for the Recognition of Foreign Refugees Recent issues, facts, and debates pertaining to asylum in Germany, links to web sites of consitutional bodies, ministries, courts, authorities and departments, and organizations, related to the Federal Office's tasks and duties, and excellent (detailed) statistics pertaining to asylum cases recognized, cases under review, and easy to read breakdowns by country of origin. Site is principally in German, with some English language pages. Helpful links and research tips for Research on Migration and Immigration A Carleton College (Canada) web page providing an excellent internet research infrastructure for Migration and Immigration related research. Includes Immigration and Refugee Information, epidemiological information sources, and various news sources. Migration Policy Group Web Site Website of the Migration Policy Group (MPG), an independent organisation based in Brussels. MPG's objectives include improving policy development on migration and related issues of diversity and anti-discrimination through the promotion of facilitated exchange between key stakeholders in Europe, North America and the international community, and through the production of substantive, comparative policy analysis. Site includes links to proposals for European legislation against discrimination on the basis of race and ethnicity forged with the support of the European Parliament and the European Commission. SIte also includes links to MPG/EU programmes, journals and other publications, and The Migration News Sheet. The news sheet is a European monthly covering all major European developments in the fields of immigration and asylum policies, asylum-seekers, controlled migration, irregular and illegal immigration, racism and xenophobia, and issues arising out of the process of integrating ethnic minorities. Centre for Migration Law at the University of Nijmegen Site covering migration and minority law in the EU. The Centre is intedisciplinary, and includes legal, philosophical, and sociological coverage of migration and minority law. Site includes up to date news items and articles, as well as a comprehensive list of links to national and EU resource centers on minorities and migration. Also contains an excellent list of European research centers and related academic journals in the field. European Network Against Racism Homepage A network of European NGOs working to combat racism in all the EU member states, a product of the 1997 European Year Against Racism. Site includes links to the campaigns of this organization and related NGOs. Nice listing of links to publications and newsletters. Fine coverage of events of national and Brussels-based NGOs in connection with the struggle against discrimination and exclusion of people of different racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds; the struggle to eliminate racist elements in Europe's migration policies, and the celebration of cultural, ethnic and racial diversity across the EU.
