Table of Contents
Until 1993, the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union were always classified together, while the separate republics were handled under the "local" provisions. With the breakup of the country, the classification has also split in various ways.
Revisions to the classifications of the Former Soviet Union are constantly appearing. Catalogers should check the latest LC Changes and additions for any revision in classification schemes.
