The publication code for the former Yugoslavia was
yu, but after the dissolution of Yugoslavia in 1992 Bosnia and Hercegovina,
Croatia, Macedonia, and Slovenia became independent with each having its own code. From 1992-2006,
yu remined valid for Yugoslavia,
comprised of Montenegro and Serbia, through 2003 and for Serbia and Montenegro from 2003-2006. In 2006, Serbia and Montenegro also became
independent countries, each with its own code. The codes are now (regardless of publication date):
- Bosnia and Hercegovina (bn)
- Croatia (ci)
- Macedonia (xn)
- Montenego (mo)
- Serbia (rb)
- Serbia and Montenegro (yu)
- Slovenia (xv)
