Prospective Students » Residency Requirements

The energy and enthusiasm that exist at Collins are founded in student interaction in our community. Our residency requirements are intended to engage you in a climate where you learn by pursuing existing passions while discovering new possibilities.

Here's how:

  • Freshmen take Q199, a 1-credit-hour residential learning workshop.
  • Freshmen and sophomores take one 3-credit-hour Collins seminar per academic year. These are classes that a board of student peers (BOEP) helps choose. Some Collins Options courses count for this requirement as well.
    • If not enrolled in a seminar, Collins freshmen and sophomores may instead have active participation in the Board of Educational Programming (BOEP) and course selection process or teach a BOEP-approved "short course."
