Travel to Swarthmore

Participants will be responsible for their own travel arrangements.

Swarthmore is about a 20-minute drive southwest from the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).
Participants arriving by air are advised to fly to Philadelphia and make the transit by car, taxi, or train.
  • Cars may be rented at the airport. Advance reservation is strongly recommended.
  • Taxi service is available from Philadelphia airport to Swarthmore College. The fare is about $20.
  • Train: take the SEPTA Airport Express train from Philadelphia International Airport to 30th Street Station in the center of Philadelphia and transfer to the SEPTA Media/Elwyn rail line and exit at the Swarthmore station. The Science Center is a short walk from the Swarthmore station.

    If you drive from the Philadelphia airport, the quickest route is to take I-95 South to exit 7, I-476 North/Plymouth Meeting. Then take I-476 North to exit 3, Media/Swarthmore. Turn right onto Baltimore Pike.
    -- To the Days Inn Springfield: Take Baltimore Pike for about 2 miles. The Days Inn is on the left.
    -- To Swarthmore College: Take Baltimore Pike for about half a mile, then turn right onto route 320 South. Turn right at the stoplight to stay on 320 South. Turn right on Elm Avenue, then turn left onto Whittier Place (stone pillars), and proceed to the DuPont parking lot next to the Science Center.
