Travel to Bloomington

Participants will be responsible for their own travel arrangements.

Bloomington is about one hour's drive south from the Indianapolis International Airport (IND).
Warning: the airport terminal moved in late 2008. The new terminal is located here. Airport maps and directions are here.
Participants arriving by air are advised to fly to Indianapolis and make the transit by car or by the limousine or shuttle service. If you drive from the Indianapolis airport, the quickest route is to take the Ameriplex Parkway to Indiana 67 South, then Indiana 67 South to Martinsville, and then Indiana 37 South to Bloomington.

Short-term parking on campus is possible in metered parking areas. Locations and rates are listed by the IU Office of Parking Operations. Free short-term street parking is possible in a few areas around the Department.

Local transportation:

  • Bloomington Transit is the main public transit system.
  • Indiana University operates the Campus Bus Service.
  • Cab service is provided by Yellow Cab Co. Inc., (812) 339-9744. Scheduling pickups at least 30 minutes in advance is recommended.
