Esta lista es lo que usaré el martes para repasar y clarificar por y para.  Son los términos del libro, generalmente, y también son los que uso para explicar las respuestas en el web para la tarea del 12 de noviembre.  Aunque vamos a hablar en clase de las razones detrás de por y para, quería ponerlas aquí se les hace falta a la hora de corregir su tarea extra para el martes.
 

Para (236-39)

General:  aim, goal, destination (either real or figurative)

Used:

1. aim; in order to; purpose

2. destination

3. use; for whom; what something meant/intended for

4. deadlines/definite point in time

5. considering, with relation to (and therefore, with comparisons often)

6. to be on the verge of (exception: in parts of Latin America = estar por)

 

Por (239-246)

General:  motivation for an action, approximate time/location, means/manner of performing action, etc.

Used:

1. motivation, reasons, compulsion (because of, on behalf of, etc.)

2. attitude towards person or thing (and therefore also to be in favor of)

3. object of errand

4. approx. time/location; place of transit (by, along, through, around)

5. Time: when focusing on duration

6. substitution, exchange, price (in exchange for)

sustituir por  = replace with;   sustituir a = to substitute someone

7. Multiplication, “per”, rates

8. means, manner, instrument, agent

9. Incompleteness
