1. Mise en scène:  Define what this refers to in film.
2. Frame (3):  What is the importance of the frame in film (what does the frame do/accomplish)?  What does placement within a frame "do" or suggest in general?  What do particular placements tend to suggest?
3.  Composition and design (5):  Take detailed notes on the following topics/concepts:  "the dominant", subsidiary contrasts, intrinsic interest, weights, lines (i.e. diagonal)
4.  Territorial space(4):  How does depth comment on the characters?  What do specific depths suggest?  How is space related to power/control?  Density of texture:  Define this term.  What does a "metteur en scène do?
5.  Name the five positions in which an actor can be photographed.  What associations does each position carry?  Why is the camera's position so important for the spectator (what is the spectator's relationship to the camera's point of view?)?
6.  Proxemic Patterns:  Define this term and the four major patters of how people use space.
7.  Read carefully and take notes on the 15 elements included in a "systematic mise en scène analysis of any given shot".  You will return to use this in particular for your informe.
