About Math Club
|
Math Club meets on most Wednesdays, usually at 6:30pm in Rawles Hall 107 (Cora Hennel Lounge).
Interdisciplinary membership is welcome and encouraged. Faculty, students, and outside
guest speakers present varied topics requested by students while everyone munches
down on dinner. Pizza is our usual fare, but sometimes we
have more exotic food.
Math Club also organizes IU's participation in the Indiana
Collegiate Math Competition.

The Math Club sent two teams to the Indiana College Math Competition
last Friday. One of the teams, consisting of John Brown, Miles Dillon
Edwards, and Tim Zakian,
won the competition. This was IU's third consecutive first-place
finish at the ICMC,
also know as the "Friendly" for its informal
nature and cordial atmosphere.
March 7, 2012 — Math Club won
the past two Indiana College Math Competitions! We plan
to send at least one team to this year's competition,
which will occur on Friday, March 23.
March 24, 2009 — The Math Club sent two teams to the ICMC competition this
year, and both teams did very well. The A-Team, made up of Yun William Yu, Peter
Lunts, and Carlo Angiuli placed 2nd out of 40 teams. The other team, made up of
Nick Krabbenhoeft and Sarah Loos, overcame their shortage of members and placed 7th.
Not in recent memory has IU sent a team that has placed among the top three.
Congratulations to all team members!
March 31, 2008 — The results are back from last weekends ICMC competition. Composed
of freshman Andy Pai and juniors Sarah Loos and Nick Krabbenhoeft, the team did
well placing 10th in a field of 30. Our traditional rivals Purdue and Rose-Hulman
scored first and second, giving the IU team motivation to regain its glory next year.
March 18, 2008 — Congratulations to all the participants in the 2007 Putnam exam.
The results came in during Spring Break. Several takers scored in the teens, a
great accomplishment considering the annual median score is either 1 or 2. Even
better news is that the IU team scored 26th in the nation out of hundreds.
