Maria Argyros, received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Crane School of Music, SUNY, Potsdam. While earning a Masters degree from Emerson College in Boston, she spent two summers at the Tanglewood Music Center where she studied with Phyllis Curtin and performed in recital. Maria has also earned post-graduate credits from Peabody Conservatory, NYU, Columbia Teachers' College, Illinois State University, and Westminster Choir College where she studied vocal pedagogy with Dr. Scott McCoy. Maria studied with David Blair McClosky and received her certification as a McClosky Voice Technician in 1997. She is on the teaching staff of the McClosky Institute of Voice, and has taught several McClosky techniques workshops (most recently for the New York City Board of Education). Maria has been a referral voice teacher for the Grabscheid Voice Center at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, and regularly teaches "Restore Your Voice to Health" classes. She serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Singing Teachers' Association (NYSTA), and completed a five course program offered by NYSTA through Columbia Teachers' College.

As a performer, Maria has performed over twenty major opera roles with local and regional companies. As a soprano soloist in oratorio, Maria has appeared in Alice Tully Hall, St. Thomas Church, and throughout the Northeast and Florida.

Currently, Maria is Chair of the Voice Department of Turtle Bay Music School in Manhattan, and is an adjunct associate professor of voice at the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College.
