Vanessa Hyatt, mezzo-contralto, has appeared with numerous opera companies throughout the Southwest and has been a frequent guest artist with Arizona Opera. Representative opera roles include the Witch in Hansel and Gretel, the Mother in The Consul, the Marquise de Birkenfeld in The Daughter of the Regiment, and Grimgerde in Die Walkure.

Ms. Hyatt is a former student of bass-baritone Giorgio Tozzi and soprano Marvelee Cariaga. She has been a featured concert soloist in Handel's Messiah, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mozart's Requiem, Mozart's Vespers, Vivaldi's Gloria, Durufle's Requiem, and Bach's Magnificat and has also appeared in concert with accompanist John Wustman.

A native of Georgia, she received her Bachelor of Music degree in voice from Baylor University and a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies/Ethnomusicology from Biola University. Currently a radio personality, Ms. Hyatt can be heard twice weekly as the host of "Taste of Classics" and "As Time Goes By" on Eclectic 89.1FM WBCX in Gainesville, Georgia. She was awarded the Georgia Association of Broadcasters award for 1999-2000 "Radio Personality of the Year", the first classical programmer in the state to receive the award. Ms. Hyatt also maintains a private voice studio in Gainesville.
