Prof. Molina, more popularly known professionally as Kitchy Molina is currently the Chairman of the Department of Voice, Music Theater and Dance at the University of the Philippines College of Music where she has been teaching for 15 years. She holds three degrees from the University of the Philippines; Bachelor Of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, Bachelor of Music Major in Voice ( Cum Laude) and Master of Music Major in Voice, Minor in Choral Conducting where she studied with Professor Emeritus Fides Cuyugan Asensio and Ms. Priscilla Magdamo Abraham (CMVT). Within her professional career spanning 28 years, Kitchy has performed lead roles in operas, has been soloist for large works, been a commercial jingle singer and back up vocalist for local as well as visiting international pop artists. Aside from training classical singers, she has served as vocal coach for some of the more popular singers in the industry today. Two of her students in the pop industry have won the top prize in the World Championship For Performing Arts held in Burbank, California in the past two years. Having been introduced to the McClosky Voice Technique in 2002 by her teacher, Prof. Priscilla Magdamo Abraham(CMVT), and attending the summer workshop in Boston in June 2003, she has since used the method for teaching not only voice students but for helping voice professionals who have also been referred to her by otolaryngologists in the Philippines who have seen the effect on their patients. Presently, she appears in a local talent reality television show (broadcast worldwide through cable) called Pinoy Dream Academy as voice mentor for the live in scholars to whom she has introduced and taught the technique. She is currently the first Certified McClosky Voice Technician based in the Philippines, and only the third from Asia. |
