Anita L. Tissi received her bachelor's degree in music from Fontbonne College and her master's degree in vocal performance from Webster University, both in St. Louis, Missouri. She received certification to teach vocal music in the public school K-12 from the University of Missouri in St. Louis, and taught elementary music for one year.

Anita has been a church soloist for 29 years and a concert singer for five years. She has been teaching private voice for the past 13 years, and private piano for 9 years. For eight years until 1998, she had been a student of Julia Stewart at Washington University in St. Louis.
