Center for University Ministry

1514 E. Third Street, Bloomington, IN 47401 (812) 332-3386

The Center for University Ministry is an ecumenical campus ministry serving Indiana University on behalf of five denominations: Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Church of the Brethren, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), United Church of Christ, and United Methodist Church.

We at the Center for University Ministry believe that faith development and spiritual maturity are at least as important as physical, intellectual, and social development. The rest of the world may be indifferent or even unfriendly to experience of God and to expressions of faith. Certainly daily busyness provides distractions galore. The Center can be an antidote.

Reflection experiences are built into most activities to foster understanding of faith, symbol, and ritual and to facilitate the conversation with culture and academe. Intentional reflection leads to an awareness of God's activities in the world and serves as a means to move beyond common assumptions. Students are encouraged to develop critical thinking and to challenge conventional knowledge as they articulate their faith journey and examine the values that shape their lives.

Activities of the Center are available to all without regard to age, gender, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, relationship to the University, or the Center's supporting denominations.
