Interfaith Association at Indiana University

Mission:

IAIU, dedicated to fostering interreligious understanding and respect, recognizes and affirms the following:

  • We live in a pluralistic, global society in which our separateness is an illusion, our diversity, a gift;
  • The process of building true community and educating students for world citizenship requires that we move beyond mere tolerance to sensitivity, openness, hospitality, and appreciation;
  • While our religious and philosophical traditions may follow different paths, we nevertheless seek truth, goodness, and the healing of our world;
  • As we understand and honor traditions other than our own, we reach a deeper understanding of our own religious or philosophical traditions.

IAIU provides interfaith programs, events, and opportunities to promote genuine dialogue and respectful inquiry.
