Helium Hoop/Stick

Description: The group needs to move the hula hoop from a predetermined height to the ground. The trick to this is that they need to keep the hoop fairly level and all fingers must stay in contact with the bottom of the hoop (no curling of fingers or pinching the hoop between fingers) at all times otherwise the hoop is reset to its starting height.

Examples of Inclusive Options:

  • A stick can be used instead of a hoop for larger groups or if more space is needed.

  • The group can lower the hoop or stick to a table if needed so that people do not have
  • to bend down to the ground. Also‚ the hoop or stick can be raised up from the ground or table instead of lowering.

This photo shows a woman in a wheelchair with four co–workers as they attempt to lower a stick to the ground using only their fingertips.
