Hear Vernon Jordan

Hear Vernon E. Jordan Jr. deliver the Neal-Marshall Lecture in Public Policy given on March 27, 2008, at the Whittenberger Auditorium in the Indiana Memorial Union. Jordan, a civil rights leader, lawyer, and influential political figure who advised President Bill Clinton, gave a lecture titled "America – Crossing the Boundaries of Possibility." The lecture was sponsored by the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club. The speech has been divided into three parts:
- Part One (22 minutes)
- Part Two (22 minutes)
- Part Three (32 minutes)
"America is for everyone, or it is for no one."
So, too, must we continue to strive to put that ideal here at Indiana University. The opportunity for higher education must be for everyone. It is not worth keeping the doors of this great institution open if they are not open to all. The founders of the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club knew that. That is what they have striven for. That is what they fought for. Their Hoosier story must not be forgotten. This is a look at that story." — Tim Miller, Production Director, "Standing On Our Shoulders"

Gary Schools Partnership
On Nov. 8, 2007, the Gary Community School Corp. signed a memorandum of understanding with the IU School of Education for a partnership that will bring educational expertise and resources together to enhance student learning at two gender-based academies. IU faculty and staff are working with the Frankie Wood McCullough Academy for Girls and the Dr. Bernard C. Watson Academy for Boys, both elementary schools serving students in kindergarten through sixth grade. To celebrate the agreement, Gary teachers and administrators joined IU First Lady Laurie McRobbie and other IU faculty and staff to cut the ribbon on two new facilities within those schools.
