Biography

Interim Director and Associate Professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies.

Her recent research focuses on at the intersection of race, gender and popular culture. New publications include:

Imaging Blackness: Race and Racial Representation in Film Poster Art( IU Press, 2007),Frame by Frame: A Filmography of the African Diasporan Image( IU Press, 2007); The Devil You Dance With: Film Culture in the New South Africa ( U of Illinois Press, forthcoming);and Richard Pryor: The Life and Legacy of a ‘Crazy’ Black Man ( IU Pres, forthcoming).
