Components

This multi-phase, multi-year collaborative project seeks to improve community
leaders' abilities to develop effective and collaborative solutions to community needs
and inform public policy decisions through:

  • Review of the scope and structure of the sector statewide and in a
    cross-section
    of local communities;
  • Detailed assessment of how nonprofits are affected by the rapid changes
    in public policy and local economic and social conditions;
  • Study of the relationships between organizations--with particular emphasis
    placed upon the relationships between religious and secular organizations; and
  • Development of curricula material to be used for professional training and
    academic study of nonprofit management and policy issues.

Focus

The project examines the nonprofit sector in twelve communities around the state
of Indiana. Please note that the analysis for Bloomington/Monroe County is not directly
comparable to those of other communities.
