Volunteer Information

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers will be needed from Monday, May 15 thru Monday, May 22. The majority of volunteers will be needed on Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20.

Administrative Support/Packet Prep Assistants: Organize packets of information for the teams and volunteers and assist in any other administrative tasks as needed. This assistance will be needed prior to the event, possibly as early as April.

Competition Assistants/Monitors: Assist event supervisor in any way needed, this may include proctoring the tests, grading the tests, setting up the equipment, timing the competitions, monitoring competitors during the event, running errands as needed. Assistance is needed on Saturday, May 20.

Delivery Crew: Pick up and deliver all shipped material to designated sites and deliver trophies to stage area for the closing ceremony. Assistance is needed Thursday, May 18 thru Saturday, May 20.

Food Service Ambassadors: Regulate the food lines at mealtimes, assist visitors in finding the food stations, serve at concession stands during the swap meet and assist in any other ways as needed. Assistance will be needed Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20.

Hospitality Room Monitors: Set up refreshment areas and serve refreshments to volunteers. Assistance is needed on Thursday, May 18, thru Saturday, May 20.

Information Booth Volunteers: Provide information and assistance to participants and volunteers. Assistance is needed on Thursday, May 18 thru Saturday, May 20.

Media Assistants: Answer phones and fax event results/scores. Direct media to appropriate parking. Assistance is needed on Friday, May 19 thru Monday, May 22.

Merchandise Sales Assistants: Assist in sales of merchandise, may include the use of a cash register (no prior experience necessary), deliver merchandise to different selling locations, or assist in any other tasks as needed. Assistance is needed Thursday, May 18 thru Saturday, May 20.

Opening/Closing Ceremony Ushers: Assist with the parade of teams, direct visitors in locating seating, help set up/tear down props and awards, monitor for safety and crowd control, and assist in any other tasks as needed. The opening ceremony will be held on Friday, May 19 from approximately 5:00 to 7:30 pm. The closing ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 20 from approximately 6:00 to 10:00 pm.

Rovers: Provide mobile assistance to the event supervisors, make sure necessary adjustments are made in event areas, assist participants and answer any of their questions or concerns, provide relief to other volunteers during breaks. Assistance is needed on Thursday, May 18 thru Saturday, May 20.

Safety Support Staff: Assist in traffic control, which may include directing buses and cars to designated areas, shuttle visitors to the campus, and assist in any other tasks as needed. Assistance will be needed Thursday, May 18 thru Sunday, May 21.

Set Up/Tear Down Team: Set up event areas, hang banners, and run errands. Assistance is needed from Wednesday, May 17 thru Monday, May 22.

Team Check-in Assistants: Check in all competing teams and provide them with all of the materials needed. Assistance is needed Wednesday, May 17 thru Saturday, May 20.

Volunteer Check-in Assistants: Check in all the volunteers and provide them with all of the materials needed for their job. Assistance is needed Thursday, May 18 thru Saturday, May 20.
