IU East triumphs and transitions
Clark Fell
Karen Clark was officially appointed dean of the campus’ nursing program this summer, following two and one-half years as interim dean. She also had been a lecturer in the program since 1987.

Mary Fell, English, has been awarded a residency at the Ragdale Foundation for this year’s winter/spring session. Ragdale is a nonprofit, internationally acclaimed artists’ community located 30 miles north of Chicago in Lake Forest, Ill. Recipients are chosen through an application process, with primary emphasis placed on anonymous evaluation of the applicant’s work sample by professionals in each genre. Ragdale is located on the grounds of architect Howard Van Doren Shaw’s Arts and Crafts style home, which was built in 1897. The foundation was established in 1976 to provide peaceful, uninterrupted time for working artists. The Ragdale experience includes the natural surroundings of meadow and prairie that enhance Ragdale’s beauty and seclusion. Each year, Ragdale provides residencies for nearly 200 emerging and established artists, writers and composers throughout the world.
