Martin Luther King Jr. Day

A resolution passed by the Trustees of Indiana University Jan. 24, 1997, provided for the university-wide observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In accordance with the resolution, which called for the university “to provide events which highlight the life and philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King,” community and university partnerships throughout the state have planned commemorations for this official university holiday, Monday, Jan. 17. Among IU visitors will be George Curry, editor-in-chief of the National Newspaper Publishers Association and of BlackPressUSA.com., who will speak at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, in Whittenberger Auditorium, Indiana Memorial Union, on the Bloomington campus.
