Accelerate a career change to nursing

Bachelor degree holders who decide to make a career change to nursing will find an accelerated nursing program at IU's Indianapolis campus. Beginning in May, graduates of the 18-month course of study will be eligible to take the nursing license examination. The new program should address the increasing shortage of registered nurses in Indiana. The full-time plan of study will emphasize health promotion, maintaining maximum levels of wellness and regaining health after health crises in individuals and families. “Our goal is to graduate nurses who are critical thinkers, effective communicators and knowledgeable practitioners,” said Sharon Farley, the School of Nursing’s executive associate dean for academic affairs.
