Paige: U.S. citizens not equipped ‘to think critically about technology’

Paige

A Webcast of the Jan. 17 symposium on technological literacy at the National Academies in Washington, D.C. is archived online, featuring remarks from Rod Paige, U.S. Secretary of Education, members of Congress and industry leaders.

Paige, an Indiana University graduate, delivered the keynote address to mark the release of Technically Speaking: Why All Americans Need to Know More About Technology.

The report, from a committee convened by the National Academy of Engineering and the National Research Council, concludes that while the country is increasingly dependent on technology, its citizens are not equipped to think critically about technology. Results of a first-ever Gallup poll on technological literacy also was released at the symposium.
