Making Meaning: Photographs by Gordon Parks is on display though June 2 in the first-floor Gallery of Western Art at the IU Art Museum in Bloomington in conjunction with the dedication today (Jan. 18) of the Department of Theatre and Drama Center and the Marcellus Neal and Frances Marshall Black Culture Center on the Bloomington campus. The images by noted African-American photographer, writer and filmmaker Gordon Parks include the photograph above taken at the Pittsburgh Grease Company in 1946 and featuring grease maker Harvey Turner at work weighing lime.
