A leader in the field for more than fifty years, SLIS has an excellent reputation that has been enhanced by the more than 5,000 MLS graduates. The entire Indiana University experience at the School of Library and Information Science is designed to prepare SLIS graduates for success.

SLIS has consistently been ranked as one of the top schools in North America by US News & World Report and other surveys. Its master’s and doctoral enrollments are among the largest in the nation. A six-year survey published in the April 2000 issue of The Library Quarterly ranks SLIS first in the nation in scholarly productivity and impact of the research carried out by its faculty.
