Harboring the eclipse
|
|
As the world’s eye is turned upward to watch NASA’s work on
Mars this week, IU Home Pages brings its readers another
astronomical image, which was ”shot” from IU’s southernmost
campus. The photo illustration was the conception of IU Southeast
geography professor Gerald Ruth and his son, Jonathan, accomplished
during last spring’s lunar eclipse. Southeast’s signature sculpture, Hope’s
Harbor, is in the foreground. The Ruths used traditional,
time-elapse photography and digital technology for this fanciful
view. The image appeared as cover art for Southeast’s 2003 annual
report.
