“Listserv” was a relatively obscure term when personnel at IU’s Center for Excellence (which has since morphed into the Center for Research on Learning and Technology at the IU School of Education in Bloomington) set up a computerized listserv so that school children around the world could communicate with explorers from the International Arctic Project, pictured in this 1995 photograph with an unfurled IU banner atop the North Pole.
