IU Bloomington Physical Plant carpenter Steve Dowling hung one of 30 newly framed posters lining the stairwell at Maxwell Hall in Bloomington last semester. Each panel details aspects of the last 30 years of history at IU and lists the names of those involved in the Groups Student Support Services Program. The exhibit was made possible by the hard work of many Groups students, staff and friends.
Established in 1968 with funds from the Higher Education Act of 1965, Groups has worked to bolster college attendance rates among first-generation, low-income and physically challenged students at IU. Through financial aid counseling, academic mentoring services and self exploration, Groups helps more than 200 students a year on the IUB campus realize their full potential.
