Emily Ward, a program director at the IU School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation on the Bloomington campus, has been selected for induction into the University of Buffalo (N.Y.) Athletic Hall of Fame. Ward currently directs aquatics, informal sports and equipment operations for the Division of Recreational Sports and will be among six inductees at a ceremony Friday, Feb. 21. Ward is a former coach of the women’s swimming and diving teams at the University of Buffalo, where she also served as an assistant athletic director and senior woman’s administrator; her teams won four conference championships and finished in the top ten three times in NCAA Division II competition. She coached 44 All-Americans, and her 1990 swim team had the highest combined GPA among its class nationally. She came to IU after two years as an administrator with the NCAA to pursue a doctoral degree in higher education administration.
