Start your own walking program courtesy of IU

Research at the Indiana University Center for Aging Research at the Regenstreif Institute for Health Care at the Indianapolis campus indicates that walking is very beneficial for senior citizens. Researchers at the center feel strongly that walking can bring an improved quality of life, relief of pain, increased concentration on work, increased blood flow and feeling better about one’s self.

Tips and guidelines for would-be walkers are available at the center’s “Start Your Own Walking Program” Web page. Among the suggestions are wearing proper footwear; planning when to walk each day; walking with a partner; planning a few walking routes and keeping an exercise log.
