IU Digital Library Program records a time in Gary when steel was king

When the steel business was booming in Gary, the history of U.S. Steel was chronicled by various photographers with photographs. The photos, representative of America’s industrial revolution, are now in a comprehensive electronic collection that portrays one of the nation’s largest planned corporate communities. The photos now online were posted by the IU Digital Library Program in Bloomington and are available to the public for the first time. The collection includes more than 2,200 digital images.
