White named interim dean of liberal arts at IUPUI

White

Robert W. White, professor of sociology at IUPUI, has been named interim dean of the IU School of Liberal Arts at the Indianapolis campus, effective June 1. He will replace Hermann Saatkamp, who is resigning to become president of Richard Stockton College in New Jersey.

White served under Saatkamp as the school’s associate dean for academic affairs from 1998–2002. He has taught social movements, political sociology, methods and statistics, social stratification and introduction to sociology, and is the author of Provisional Irish Republicans: An Oral and Interpretive History (Greenwood Press1993); and co-edited another book, Self, Identity and Social Movements.

A search committee is expected to make a recommendation for a new dean by the end of December.
