Low vision intervention in the elderly

At the IU’s School of Optometry investigators at the Borish Center are participating in a prospective, randomized national clinical trial called Low Vision Intervention Clinical Trial. The principal investigator is Professor Tracy Nguyen. The objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of low vision intervention in the elderly with age-related central vision loss.

Subjects will be divided into two groups, one receiving a low vision exam immediately, and the other will be examined after a three-month delay. Both groups will be followed for 12 months following the intervention to evaluate the long-term benefits of low vision intervention and the need for further follow-up.
