Memoirist searches for a ‘meaningful life’

Albom

Tuesdays with Morrie author Mitch Albom launches IPFW’s Omnibus Lecture Series Monday, Sept. 19. The community-wide series presents diverse perspectives through educated, respected and entertaining speakers.

Albom’s talk, “From Morrie to Heaven: Search for a Meaningful Life,” will draw on many of the insights presented in Tuesdays with Morrie, Albom’s memoir of his visits to his dying professor, Morrie Schwartz, and the life lessons learned along the way. “People show me photos and say, ‘This is my Morrie.’ It demonstrates the power of a simple relationship and the lessons we learn from our older teachers about how to create a meaningful life,” Albom said.

In September 2003, Albom released his first novel, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, which debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestsellers list and sold nearly five million copies in its first year. Albom is a columnist for the Detroit Free Press and hosts “The Mitch Albom Show,” a nationally syndicated radio program, and is a regular commentator for ESPN’s “The Sports Reporters.”

The lecture is free and open to the public. Seating is limited; doors open at 6:30 p.m.
