Editor's choice: news from other institutions of higher learning
What cultural references define the traditionally aged students who began their freshmen year of college this fall? Read Beloit College's annual Mindset List. A cultural anthropologist decided to take her sabbatical leave and become a college freshman. She immersed herself in student life, moved into the dorms and took on a full course load. She ate in the student cafeteria, joined student clubs, and played regular pick-up games of volleyball and tag football. Her journey is chronicled in a new book from the Cornell University Press.
