HeadlinersTransitions at IUPUI
William Plater, dean of the faculties and executive vice chancellor of IUPUI, will step down from his post next June and take on another assignment for the university. He will become director of the Workshop on International Community Development, a newly focused initiative to combine and coordinate efforts in international community development. Established jointly by the Center on Philanthropy and the Center on Urban Policy and the Environment at IUPUI to strengthen and develop the international dimensions of the respective centers, the workshop will conduct benchmarking and analysis of approximately 50 regional centers geographically distributed across the globe, concentrating on the urban areas that have natural relations with Indianapolis because of existing economic, cultural or academic collaborations · Daniel Pesut, Department of Environments for Health, has been appointed associate dean for graduate programs at the School of Nursing. He is the current president of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
· Pamela Jeffries, Department of Adult Health at the School of Nursing, has been appointed associate dean for undergraduate programs at the school. Her major contributions in research and scholarship of teaching are focused on pedagogies in nursing education using technology and simulated learning for content delivery, skill application and promotion of clinical diagnostic reasoning. · Donna Boland, Department of Adult Health, has been appointed to the newly created position of associate dean for evaluation at the School of Nursing. She was associate dean for undergraduate programs at IUSON for more than 15 years. Her expertise is in the areas of curriculum design and evaluation and in outcome assessment of student learning. · Martel Plummer has been named assistant dean for student services at the School of Nursing. She was formerly an assistant dean at the Herron School of Art and Design. She also has served as an associate director of academic programs at the IU Center on Philanthropy, and director of student services and graduate programs at the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs. · Susan Rawl, Department of Adult Health, has been appointed to the newly created position of assistant dean, Center for Nursing Research and Scholarship, IU School of Nursing. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Adult Health. Her research is in the area of behavioral oncology, with a special emphasis on colorectal cancer.
· Robert H. Kasberg Jr., director of admissions at the School of Dentistry, has been appointed the school's associate dean for student affairs. He replaces Margot Van Dis, who served in the associate deanship for eight years before deciding to return to her full-time IU teaching post as a professor of dental diagnostic sciences. Kasberg will continue in his role as admissions director. |
