Wendell Willkie, IU alumnus and unsuccessful presidential candidate against Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1937, was IU's Founders Day speaker on May 4, 1937. The Elwood native is also remembered today for his book, One World.

He is shownat right during a 1940 campaign trip to his hometown.
