The fifth annual GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Day is scheduled Wednesday (Nov. 19) from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the first floor of the Main Library on the Bloomington campus.
The study of geography has yielded better understanding of society, culture and geology. Census data, topography and social studies have been enhanced through the use of GIS.
Included with the opportunities to explore GIS software and spatial data applications will be posters, demonstrations, presentations and workshops.
(Read how GIS is being used in research by Harini Nagendra, Asia research coordinator at the Center for the Study of Institutions, Population and Environmental Change at IUB, to investigate the processes impacting forest conservation in developing countries, article.)
